Like many, my mornings started with bland grocery store coffee. Then Trade changed everything by connecting me with a curated selection of roasts perfectly matched to my tastes, crafted by passionate small-batch roasters.
I took a quick quiz, and now I enjoy unique, freshly roasted coffees delivered straight to my door. Not only do they taste better than what I was buying before, but supporting local artisans makes me feel great about the money I’m spending on coffee each week.
Plus, Trade is offering Connecticut Lifestyles readers an exclusive 50% off your first month subscription when you sign up today. Trust us, you deserve the upgrade. Our only regret—not finding them sooner!

TODAY IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY
From Tragedy to the Spotlight
Long before he became a familiar face on television, Charles Nelson Reilly was a young boy growing up in Hartford, discovering his love for music and theatre. Though he would later be known for his quick wit, warmth, and unmistakable presence on stage and screen, one moment from his Connecticut childhood left a lasting mark.
As a teenager, Reilly attended the Ringling Bros circus in Hartford in 1944, a performance that turned catastrophic when a fire tore through the big top. The disaster claimed more than 160 lives and remains one of the deadliest tragedies in the state’s history. Reilly survived by escaping the stands, but the scenes he witnessed that day stayed with him for the rest of his life.
Despite building a celebrated career in acting, comedy, and directing, Reilly often spoke about how the experience affected him deeply. He later shared that being in large audiences brought back memories of the chaos and fear of that afternoon. It’s a striking reminder that even the most joyful public figures can carry unseen stories from Connecticut’s past—stories that continue to shape them long after the spotlight fades.
