If you’re thinking about cutting back on red meat for better health, wild-caught seafood could be your secret weapon. Science shows that eating fish 1-2 times a week can support healthy heart and brain function, help reduce inflammation, and even may give your metabolism a little boost.
Here’s what wild-caught seafood delivers: essential n‑3 polyunsaturated fats (specifically, the marine-based omega-3 fatty acids that nutritionists love so much!), lean and digestible protein, and a smorgasbord of nutrients. Compare that to conventional red meat, which often comes with higher saturated fat, an unhealthy balance of omega‑6 fatty acids, and a limited range of nutrients.
Switching to seafood as your go-to protein is not just a shift away from a red meat rut. It’s a shift toward higher-quality nutrients and a more diversified diet for well-rounded health.

TODAY IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY
Amelia Earhart’s Unconventional “I Do” in Noank
Before she became a legend lost to the skies, Amelia Earhart made headlines on the ground in coastal Connecticut — and she did it entirely on her own terms.
When Earhart married publisher George P. Putnam in Noank in 1931, it was far from a traditional romance. After multiple proposals and plenty of hesitation, she agreed to marry only after handing Putnam a candid letter outlining what she would and would not accept. At the heart of it was one non-negotiable: her freedom. Flying was her life, and she refused to let marriage clip her wings.
Putnam, a powerful figure in publishing and publicity, had helped elevate Earhart into an international icon, carefully shaping her image as aviation’s most famous woman. But despite their deep affection, Earhart remained wary of marriage as an institution, once describing it as a kind of “cage.” Her letter made it clear that independence, mutual honesty, and personal space were essential — even leaving open the possibility of walking away if happiness faded.
Their marriage lasted until Earhart’s disappearance in 1937, and her Noank wedding remains one of the most striking examples of how she challenged social norms not just in the air, but in life. Long before modern conversations about autonomy and partnership, Amelia Earhart was already rewriting the rules — very much Connecticut-style.
