HAVE YOU SEEN THIS YET?

TODAY IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY
Few figures shaped America’s financial landscape quite like J. P. Morgan, who was born in Hartford and rose to become one of the most influential bankers in U.S. history. Coming from a well-connected Connecticut family, he built his reputation by consolidating industries and creating massive corporations that would define modern business, including General Electric and U.S. Steel.
Morgan’s influence went far beyond business deals. During times of national financial crisis, he stepped in to stabilize the economy—most notably by helping rescue the U.S. Treasury during a severe downturn in the 1890s and later organizing support for struggling banks during the Panic of 1907. While his actions helped prevent economic collapse, they also raised concerns about the power of private financiers, ultimately contributing to the creation of the Federal Reserve system.
Despite his global impact, Morgan maintained strong ties to Connecticut throughout his life. His legacy can still be felt in Hartford today through his support of cultural institutions and public landmarks, reflecting a lasting connection to the place where his story began.

Big-screen vibes without the big price
If you’ve been putting off a movie night, this is your sign. AMC Theatres is serving up major savings with Yellow Ticket deals that let you catch the latest films for way less—no matter the day of the week. You can grab tickets for one, two, or a whole group, and even bundle in popcorn and drinks so you’re fully set the second you walk in.
We’re talking plush recliners, massive screens, and that elite movie theater popcorn—all without the usual price tag. Whether it’s a casual date night, a last-minute plan with friends, or a solo escape with snacks in hand, this deal makes it way easier to say yes to the movies.
