SATURDAY EVENTS ACROSS CONNECTICUT

At Marcello’s Italian Eatery in Monroe, pasta is a true culinary event.

Picture a giant wheel of premium cheese, ignited tableside with a splash of grain alcohol, sending up a dramatic flame as it melts into a creamy sauce. Fresh linguini is then swirled right in, creating a rich, velvety masterpiece.

To finish? A lavish sprinkle of shaved truffle that turns every bite into pure indulgence. It’s no wonder this dish is taking social media by storm—it’s a must-see (and must-taste!) culinary performance.

🍝 Go see what the buzz is about—one bite and you’ll be hooked!

SUNDAY EVENTS ACROSS CONNECTICUT

TODAY IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY

THEODATE POPE RIDDLE: PIONEERING WOMAN ARCHITECT

Theodate Pope Riddle, one of America’s first successful female architects, passed away at the age of 79. A Farmington alumna of Miss Porter’s School, she fell in love with the town’s early American architecture and later made her mark designing Hill-Stead, a stunning Colonial Revival mansion and family estate.

Beyond architecture, Pope Riddle was a patron of the arts, moving in circles with figures like Henry James, Mary Cassatt, and Beatrix Farrand, who designed Hill-Stead’s Sunken Garden. Her life was full of adventure and resilience, including surviving the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 and traveling the world with her husband, diplomat John Wallace Riddle.

In her will, Pope Riddle ensured Hill-Stead would become a museum, preserving her family’s home and art collection exactly as it had been during her lifetime. Today, the estate is a National Historic Landmark, welcoming visitors to explore its historic interiors, expansive grounds, and a nationally recognized poetry festival.
