Then Trade changed everything by connecting me with a curated selection of roasts perfectly matched to my tastes, crafted by passionate small-batch roasters. I took a quick quiz, and now I enjoy unique, freshly roasted coffees delivered straight to my door.
Not only do they taste better than what I was buying before, but supporting local artisans makes me feel great about the money I’m spending on coffee each week.

TODAY IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY
A Connecticut Governor Finally Born at Home
Connecticut spent its early colonial years led entirely by English-born governors. That finally changed in the early 1700s, when Joseph Talcott — born and raised in Hartford — stepped into leadership and reshaped the colony’s political identity.
Talcott grew up in one of Hartford’s most established families, inheriting the entire Talcott estate at just nineteen. That early boost set him up for a prominent public life, from militia service to legal training and a long list of civic appointments. His legal background became a major asset as he rose through the ranks.
After the sudden passing of Governor Gurdon Saltonstall in 1724, Talcott was elected to take the colony’s highest office, becoming Connecticut’s first native-born governor. His tenure was defined by steady leadership: mediating thorny border disputes in New England and defending Connecticut’s inheritance laws before English courts. Those same laws allowed him to pass on both his estate and the people he enslaved to his children upon his death in 1741.
Talcott ultimately served seventeen years in office, winning re-election sixteen times — one of the longest governorships in Connecticut’s colonial era, second only to John Winthrop Jr.

A fun, low-stress way to get the squad together this week

If you’ve been itching for an easy, affordable outing that works for couples, families, or the whole friend group, this Groupon deal at Spare Time Entertainment is a total steal. For a limited time, you can snag 60–90 minutes of bowling plus shoe rental for 2 or 4 players at up to 40% off — and even lower with the promo code SAVEMORE.
Spare Time’s lanes are some of the nicest in Connecticut — sleek, modern, and super beginner-friendly. Whether you're rolling strikes or just hoping the ball stays out of the gutter, the vibe is always relaxed and fun. And because shoes are included, you literally just show up and start bowling.
But bowling’s just the start. Each location has arcade games, laser tag, good food, and a bright, lively atmosphere that works whether you’re bringing the kids or planning a grown-up night out. With three CT locations — Vernon, Bristol, and Windsor Locks — it’s easy to pick a spot that’s close to home.
Even better: you don’t need a reservation. Just grab the deal, walk in, scan your voucher, and lane availability permitting, you’re set for a great time.
Whether you're planning a casual date, a family outing, or a little friendly competition with your favorite people, this one’s an easy win — and the reviews (10,000+ of them!) say it all.
