New Federal and State Funding to Boost Rail Service

Governor Ned Lamont has announced a major development for the CTrail Hartford Line: an $11.6 million federal grant, matched by $13.4 million in state funding, will go towards increasing and extending rail service.

These enhancements aim to improve convenience, boost economic growth, and make public transit even more accessible for central Connecticut residents.

Governor Lamont said, “The Hartford Line is not only providing a valuable and convenient public transit resource for people who live in central Connecticut, but it is also helping create new opportunities for economic growth and development in the towns it serves. Expanding service on this line will further make travel on this rail line even more convenient, and I appreciate President Biden and the FRA for partnering with our state to make this happen.”

Stay tuned for updates on how this investment will transform the way we travel.

CONNECTICUT'S SURPRISING TIE TO RADIOHEAD'S ICONIC 'OK COMPUTER'

This year marks the 28th anniversary of OK Computer, Radiohead’s groundbreaking album. Did you know its iconic cover art has roots in Connecticut?

A Reddit user discovered that the photo used for the artwork depicts the eastbound junction of I-84 and I-91 in Hartford, just before crossing the Connecticut River. The vantage point, believed to be from a Hilton Hotel, was captured during Radiohead’s stay after their 1996 Hartford performance.

The image was later transformed by Radiohead’s artist, Stanley Donwood, into the cover we recognize today. It’s a reminder of how Connecticut has subtly influenced pop culture history.
