CELEBRATING 200 YEARS OF CONNECTICUT HISTORY
A Year-Long Tribute to the Past, Present, and Future
The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, one of the nation’s oldest historical societies, is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2025.
Located in Hartford, the museum is hosting special exhibitions, community events, and programs throughout the year.
Explore the rich tapestry of Connecticut’s history and learn about the diverse stories that have shaped our state.

DON’T MISS THESE LUNAR NEW YEAR EVENTS!

The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the first new moon of the year and concludes with the first full moon. Celebrated in countries across Asia, including China, Korea, and Vietnam, this festive period honors tradition and welcomes prosperity.
2025 is the Year of the Snake, the sixth animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle. Connecticut will host several Lunar New Year celebrations, including:
Feb. 1
Lunarfest – New Haven
Location: Whitney Avenue
Kick off Lunarfest with a lion dance parade and zodiac scavenger hunt at 10 a.m., followed by performances, workshops, and activities at local museums and shops.
Feb. 2
Celebrate Lunar New Year – New Canaan
Location: New Canaan Library
From 2 to 4 p.m., enjoy dance and choir performances, traditional crafts, and food celebrating various Asian cultures.
Celebrate Lunar New Year: The Year of the Snake – Stamford
Location: Ferguson Library
From 2 to 4 p.m., experience classical Chinese dances, folk songs, and hands-on arts and crafts.
Feb. 8
Lunar New Year Celebration – Mashantucket
Location: Foxwoods Resort Casino
Starting at 11 a.m., the Rainmaker Expo Center will host lion dances, face-changing performances, and interactive crafts like paper-cutting, lantern-making, and calligraphy until 6 p.m.
Lunar New Year Celebration – Bridgeport
Location: Beardsley Zoo
Learn about various snake species while enjoying activities celebrating the Year of the Snake from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lunar New Year Celebration – Fairfield
Location: Fairfield Museum and History Center
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., enjoy lion dances, martial arts demonstrations, dumplings, mochi doughnuts, and traditional Chinese papercutting and calligraphy.
Lunar New Year Event – Uncasville
Location: The Shops at Mohegan Sun
Celebrate with traditional lion dances, firecrackers, and more from noon to 3 p.m.
Feb. 22
Lunar New Year Celebration – Manchester
Location: CT State Community College Manchester Arts, Sciences & Technology Center
Celebrate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live entertainment, crafts, and more. Admission is free.
