THIS MONTH IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY

JFK’s Unforgettable Night in Waterbury

In the final days of his hard-fought 1960 presidential campaign, Senator John F. Kennedy made an unplanned stop that would become the stuff of political legend. After a long day of rallies in New York, his plane landed in Stratford in the early hours of November 6. Exhausted and expecting a quiet arrival at the Roger Smith Hotel in Waterbury, Kennedy instead found himself greeted by a massive crowd of 40,000 supporters — drenched from the rain but brimming with excitement.

Moved by their dedication, Kennedy stepped out onto the hotel balcony alongside Connecticut Governor Abe Ribicoff and delivered a spontaneous, impassioned speech that lasted nearly an hour. ā€œMy debt to Connecticut is great,ā€ he told the roaring crowd, calling it the greatest rally of his campaign.

Just days later, Kennedy went on to win the presidency — and Connecticut, by over 90,000 votes. That electrifying night in Waterbury remains one of the most memorable moments in the state’s political history, a testament to the energy and hope that carried JFK to the White House.

After a long day, the last thing most of us want is another hour in the kitchen. But takeout and frozen ā€œhealthyā€ meals? They usually come with seed oils and ingredients that don’t leave you feeling great.

That’s where Forkful Meals comes in—chef-prepared meals cooked in avocado oil, made with grass-fed meats, wild-caught seafood, and organic produce. From protein-packed pasta to plant-based burrito bowls, they’ve got options for every eater. And the best part? Everything arrives fresh, heats up in minutes, and makes healthy eating feel effortless.

Make weeknights simpler—and healthier.
