Beatrice Fox Auerbach: A Retail Visionary & Philanthropist

On March 11, 1938, Beatrice Fox Auerbach took over as president of Hartford’s G. Fox & Company, becoming one of the first female retail executives in the country.

Over the next 27 years, she transformed the department store into the largest privately held one in the U.S., all while revolutionizing employee benefits and breaking gender and racial barriers in hiring.
