A full day of food, entertainment, shopping, and family fun
The Stratford Main Street Festival returns to downtown Stratford on Saturday, June 6 at 10:00 am along Main Street near 2303 Main Street, Stratford. More than 250 vendors, food trucks, artisans, performers, local businesses, and community organizations will come together for one of the area's largest annual events.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Stratford, the festival also supports scholarships, food assistance programs, educational initiatives, and other local charitable causes. If you're looking for a fun day out with something for all ages, this annual tradition is worth adding to your calendar.
A beloved Newtown tradition returns with adoptable pets and free activities
The 10th Annual Catherine's Butterfly Party takes place on Saturday, June 6 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Fairfield Hills Campus in Newtown. This free family festival features hundreds of adoptable animals from more than 27 rescue organizations, live wildlife demonstrations, local vendors, food trucks, music, and activities for kids.
Hosted by the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, the event honors Catherine Hubbard's love of animals while bringing the community together for a day of compassion, education, and fun. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
A community race celebrating fitness, history, and local pride
The inaugural Greenwich Community 5K & Fun Mile will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 8:00 AM at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich. Participants can choose between a timed 5K or a family-friendly Fun Mile as part of Greenwich's celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

Connecticut’s Symphony For A 300-Year Celebration
As Connecticut celebrated its 300th anniversary in 1935, music lovers gathered in Norfolk for the world premiere of The Connecticut Symphony, a special composition by acclaimed conductor and composer Henry Hadley. The performance took place at the historic Norfolk Music Shed and drew a crowd of more than 1,500 people eager to hear the new work.
Commissioned specifically to commemorate Connecticut’s tricentennial, the symphony was performed by a 65-piece orchestra and reflected the state's rich history through music. Hadley, one of the most respected American composers of his era, was known for his work in both classical music and the early film industry.
The piece featured three movements representing the years 1635, 1735, and 1935, each capturing a different chapter of Connecticut’s story. Blending Native American influences, colonial-era hymns, and modern American musical styles, the symphony served as a sweeping tribute to the people, culture, and history of the Constitution State.

A meteor streaking through the atmosphere at roughly 75,000 miles per hour created a sonic boom that was heard across parts of New England. NASA said the fireball exploded high above Massachusetts with the force of approximately 300 tons of TNT, producing a bright flash visible from space and reports of a loud boom across several neighboring states.
Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Supplements Sickens Connecticut Residents
Federal health officials say a salmonella outbreak linked to moringa-based dietary supplements has sickened more than 100 people nationwide, including several Connecticut residents. The FDA has announced additional product recalls and is urging consumers who purchased the affected supplements to stop using them immediately and dispose of the products or request a refund.
