NEW CANAAN MOVES OUTDOOR DINING START TO MAY 1

Concerns over parking prompt change for restaurants

New Canaan’s outdoor dining season will now begin on May 1 instead of April 1, after town officials responded to concerns from local retailers about limited parking.

While some restaurant owners are disappointed by the later start, the trade-off allows for extra dining space through early November.

WEST HARTFORD APPROVES MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT OF FORMER UCONN CAMPUS

After nearly a decade of sitting vacant, the former UConn campus in West Hartford is finally set for a transformation. The Town Council recently approved a zoning change, clearing the way for Heritage Park, a mixed-use development that will bring 118 new homes, including townhouses and affordable units, alongside a grocery store, restaurant, spa, assisted living facility, and more.

The project, led by WeHa Development Group LLC, will also expand the Trout Brook Trail, adding public spaces and enhancing the community. Combined with a separate development across the street, the former campus will now account for 440 new homes, marking one of the town’s largest projects since Blue Back Square.

The approval of this project highlights the growing demand for housing across Connecticut.

With ongoing developments reshaping neighborhoods, finding a trusted home builder is more important than ever.
