If you’re a homeowner, you know unexpected expenses are par for the course. One way to help shield your finances is to get a home warranty.

Unlike homeowners insurance, which covers natural disasters and theft, a home warranty could help safeguard you against costly repairs of eligible essential home appliances and systems due to normal wear and tear.

Check out Money’s list of the Best Home Warranties and take the sting out of appliance breakdowns.

Connecticut is home to the first telephone exchange in the world. It opened in New Haven in 1878 with just 21 subscribers—and a young switchboard operator named George Willard.

Most people prefer to smoke cannabis but that isn’t an option if you’re at work or in public.

That’s why we were so excited when we found out about Mood’s new Rapid Onset THC Gummies. They can take effect in as little as 5 minutes without the need for a lighter, lingering smells or any coughing.

Nobody will ever know you’re enjoying some THC.

We recommend you try them out because they offer a 100% money-back guarantee. And for a limited time, you can receive 20% off with code FIRST20.

KEY STORIES HAPPENING RIGHT NOW

⚠️ Wintry Mix Causes Slick Roads Across Connecticut

A storm system moved through Connecticut Monday morning, bringing rain to most areas and a wintry mix—including snow and sleet—to the northern part of the state. A winter weather advisory was issued for Litchfield County, with forecasters warning of slippery roads and icy conditions before precipitation tapers off later in the day.

🌊 Sewage Leak Threatens Milford Oyster Farms

An apparent sewage leak in Milford’s West Shore has shut down commercial and recreational shellfishing since November, leaving local oyster farming businesses in limbo. Despite ongoing investigations using dye tests and surveillance, DEEP officials have yet to identify the exact source, and there’s still no timeline for reopening the waters.

🚗 Wrong-Way Detection System Prevents Hundreds of Crashes

Connecticut’s wrong-way driver alert system has already stopped nearly 300 drivers from entering highways in the wrong direction, according to the DOT. With 151 detection systems now active, officials credit the flashing alerts and real-time monitoring for helping save lives—especially at high-risk ramps often near bars and restaurants. Plans are in place to expand the system to even more locations across the state.
